More  than  12,000  GIS  professionals  met  in  San Diego,  California,  for  the  29th  Annual  ESRI  International  User  Conference. Given current economic conditions, I appreciate the extra effort it took to make the trip to San Diego.  I’d like to recap, for those who could not attend, some of the key points shared at the conference.

Geographic Information System in Ukraine: main trends and problems problems
The article describes the characteristics of geographic information technologies in Ukraine, which formed a  separate  subject  area,  including  consumers,  manufacturers,  software  and  geospatial  data,  GIS-trained  professionals, as well as a system of information and organizational communications, providing links between  them (conferences, specialized publications, professional associations, and others). Dana expert assessment of  key issues, trends and directions of development in Ukraine, studied the subject area, considered as an integral  part of the world's geo-space.

Conception  of  generation  of  the  flowchart  of  transformation,  decoding  and  geologic  interpretation of remote sensing data on a based of geoinformation technologies for geologic objectives  solving
The designed conceptual generic modular flowchart of transformation, decoding and geologic interpretation of  remote sensing data in the complex with geological and geophysical data is characterised. The flowchart is  based on geoinformation technologies application.

The method of GIS preparation of electronic cartographic basis for the decision of the applied tasks of motor  transport is grounded. A method is realized on the example of the GIS of reflection of situation on safety of  road traffic. The task of preparation of the specialized software is considered.

Modelling  of  liquid  flow  on  the  water  catchment  using  WEB-GIS-applications  from  components based on ARCGIS SERVER'A
The  approach  to modeling the flow  of incompressible  fluid in  a pseudo prismatic river-bed with the  vertical  plane  of  symmetry.  Describe  the  stability conditions  for  a  given  flow.  Introduced  and  analyzed  the  average  speed  value  adjustments  for  different  types  of  flows  in  rivers.  An  variational  formulation  of  the  problem,  solved by finite element method. The results tested on the example that has the analytical solution and the  numerical  comparisons  with  laboratory  studies  by  other  authors.  In this paper technology that would be allowed to use ArcGIS-Extension, that is GIS-components for Web- applications based on ArcGIS Server'a. Such technologies provide simple and easy integration and use of GIS- component  on  the  WEB-site,  where  a  separate  layer  provided  opportunities  modeling  and  solving  applied  problems of moving water flow in rivers.

Development of GIS module of European decision support  system for nuclear emergencies RODOS
Described GIS module of European decision support system for nuclear emergencies RODOS. Module using  results of the system modeling blocks allows presentation of geospatial data and manipulation of maps, WMS  layers,  measurement  data  and  model  result  maps.  GIS  module  also  serves  as  a  source  for  input  values, performing interpolation raster and vector data to calculation grid. Values in computational cells are calculated  as weighted sum of raster pixels, proportionally to the pixel area in the middle of the cell.

GIS  in  predicting  the  spring  flood  in  2010  in  Ukraine 
This  paper  presents  the  interaction  results  of  ministries,  departments,  scientific  and  analytical  Ukrainian  centers  of  in  the  problem  solution  of  forecasting and  assessing a  spring  flood  of  2010  possible  impact.  In  solving this problem, apply methods of flood zones spatial modelling using GIS, the integration GIS with the  outer set hydrological modeling system, as well as tools of spatial analysis of GIS to identify the affected  objects.

Online integration of distributed departmental data for territorial management systems
The  article describes the  concept  of  building Information  Portal  using ILS  MultiCadastre  software, which  integrates spatial data from different agencies with information related to spatial objects. The novelty of this  solution is the technology of data integration on the Information Portal without physical copying of the data  from owner by means of access control policy to the data of corresponding owners. The concept is described  by example of integration of spatial data that belongs to: Land Services, Bureau of Technical Inventory and  Department of Architecture and City Planning. Separately the technology for  creating registration data and  automating  business  processes  of  the  agencies  is  considered  using  ILS  LRS  software  for  forming  unified  property registry.

The article features analysis of the content and evolution of the terminological unit "geotechnology". In recent  years, this term has been actively used to characterize a complex of methods for automatic space-time analysis  of  geodata,  based  on  GIS-technology  usage.  Also,  the  article  contains  descriptions  of  main  trends  for  utilization  of  geotechnologies  within  the  context  of  functional  geographic  support  of  the  territorial  development management system.

Features  of  geographic  information  system  creation  for  ecological  monitoring 
The  structure  of  the  geographic  information  system  is  proposed,  oriented  on  ecological  monitoring  tasks  solving within the Shatsk National Natural Park. Sources of data receiving about ecosystems state in the Park  territory were analyzed. Information technologies of databases formation and filling with information about  monitoring  objects  ecological  state  are  developed.  Modes  of  databases  representation  within  the  geoinformation system as well as examples of their usage for practical tasks solving are presented.

Methodical basis of biosphere reserves’ network spatial organisation optimization  and their realization at the example of Ukraine
The results of biosphere reserves’ network spatial organisation optimization methodical basis elaboration and  their realization at the example of Ukraine territory are represented in the article. The in-depth analysis of the  biosphere reserves’ network spatial organisation and functioning in Ukraine, the international experience in  this  field  allowed  us  to  elaborate  the  methodology  of  the  biosphere  reserves'  network  designing  for  the  optimization  of  their  functioning,  which  can  be  used  both  on  national  and international  levels.  The  spatial  analysis had been carried out by using the software of ArcGIS 9.0, ESRI.

Foundation  of  the  parking  lots  in  major  cities  on  the  basic  of  the  space-accurate  simulation
Methods of the space-accurate simulation models for the parking of cars in the central part of a large city at  the example of the city Kharkiv are described. Model of organization of parking is based on modeling the  behavior  of  each  driver  participating in  the  process  of  parking  his  or  her  car  and  covers  the  main  stages  of  parking spaces: the  movement  to a destination, search and leaving the  parking spaces.  Highlight is  on the  structure of the model and its main algorithms. Developed spatially accurate model allows to determine the  influence of different spatial scenarios for the organization of parking garages in major cities.

Urbanized  territories  technogenic  contaminations  mapping  using  the  hyperspectral  imaging  data
Some aspects of data processing hyperspectral imaging for the purpose of revealing of contaminations and  reception of corresponding district  maps  for  the  urbanized territories  are  considered.  At first,  questions  of an  optimal selection of a subset of spectral bands of the hyperspectral imagery are considered. It is shown that  there is no necessity to process all spectral bands, it is usually enough to use no more than 10-30 ones which  are  the  most  informative.  The  new  criterion  for  informativity  is  entered.  This  criterion  considers  simultaneously  such  fundamental  properties  of  hyperspectral  imagery,  as  the  spatial  resolution,  mutual  spectral  entropy  and  signal-to-noise  ratio.  Secondly,  few  algorithms  for  the  processing  and  analysis  of  hyperspectral imagery are developed and adapted for the geochemical contaminations detection. Testing of the  offered  processing  flowchart  on  the  EO-1/Hyperion  hyperspectral  image  of  the  central  part  of  Kiev  is  conducted. The map of estimations of geochemical contaminations of this territory is received. Thirdly, the  new method for the effective lossy compression of hyperspectral data is described. This method abandoning  the data quality acceptable to the further processing.

The article describes the experience of determining the coordinates of points aerial photography during the  aerial  survey  using  dual-frequency  GPS-receivers  are  used  to  perform  surveying  work.Evaluated  the  effectiveness  of  using  the  exterior  orientation  in  constructing  the  photogrammetric  network.

Structure of banks of space images for GIS management the guard of salt territorial  waters of Ukraine
Creation of RSE/GIS technology for cartographical maintenance to support decisions concerning management  of  protection  of  territorial  waters  and  sea  economic  zones,  and  surrounding  natural  environment  in  seaside  regions  of  the  Azov  and  Black  seas  from  negative  influences  on  their  constant  condition  of  natural  and  technogenic  factors,  and  also  planning of  actions  for  the  prevention  and  liquidation  of  extreme  situations  consequences.

On the prospects of using blue-green algae in energy systems of Ukraine
The issues of long-term use of biomass of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria), its conversion into biogas for heat  and electricity. The basis of the proposed method proposed method of cleaning the surface waters of the blue- green  algae  to  help  shore  and  floating  pump  systems.  To  determine  the  dynamics  of  spatial-temporal  distribution of spots "bloom" of phytoplankton used materials space shooting from satellites «Landsat». If you  are  invited  to  use  biogas,  bio  methane  "ferment".  Methane  fermentation  takes  place  in  watertight  tanks  (reactors) with a lateral hole for the filing of the substrate (a concentrated biomass of cyanobacteria). This  technology improves the quality of water in reservoirs for energy savings.
